VERDE

VOLCANO

LAKE COATEPEQUE
Volcanic lake located 18 km south of the city of Santa Ana, 740 meters high and
with an area of 24 square kms. Its major accidents are the two small
peninsulas denominated "eyeglasses" and the island of the hill where
the Pipil Indians had a temple and a representative of the goddess monolith
Itzcueye.
COASTAL
ROAD AND BEACHES.
The
stretch of the coastal road between Puerto de La Libertad and Mizata Rada,
opened in 1959 during the administration of Crl. Jose Maria Lemus, is the
boldest stroke of Central Road. It has five tunnels in the rocky coastal
mountains, beautiful cliffs on the coast, the steep stone walls that support
